R2 please sir! (...cause Your dress today is worth R2000)

Alexandra Howson discuss in her writing, The Body in society, that the body is a symbolic way of shaping identity (Howson, 2004:93). We don’t buy clothes for value anymore, but rather for desirability and kinds of statements we can associate with. Lets be honest, it’s lovely to wear fashion and the latest shit popping out and displayed by our own individual trendy consumed mediums, such as magazines, T.V. etc. Lets also think in terms of self-indulgence vs. self-denial, majority of people regard themselves as being prime important.

Anyway… Does bergies give bollocks about their bodies in society?

I think if one should explain this in a clear way to a bergie they might think it is completely absurd to spend so much time on dressing one’s body, as they just have a desire for basic stuff like food and shelter. One bergie in the gardens this morning mentioned the following words: “ Jy weet mos.., dis die land van melk en heuning, die n....s hier maak net hul eie sakke vol - hulle voel fokol!”. (His in the picture below, Jannie (guy in front with the hat), pronounced - Jh'annie).
